So you've got your van wrapped, and it looks perfect. How do you make sure that the wrap stays looking brand new, for as long as possible? Well that's what we're here to tell you!
The First Few Days
You might feel the urge to wash your van every day once you've got it wrapped. That's an urge you've got to fight!
In the first few days after the installation of a vehicle wrap, we recommend not washing it for at least seven days. This allows the material to adhere to your vehicle properly, and lets the adhesive set. It also allows any small bubbles to dissipate of their own accord. Once these seven days have passed, it's safe to clean your van, truck or car.
Washing Your Vehicle
Vehicle wrapping vinyl has very similar properties to human skin, in the sense that it will dry out and crack if it isn't "moisturised" properly. It's very important to wash your vehicle often, and when you do, do it in a way that protects your investment.
Goodwin Graphics always recommends washing your vehicle by hand, rather than with a pressure washer. If you have to use a pressure washer, always keep the nozzle at least 30cm away from your wrap, and at a 90 degree angle to the bodywork. That way the water won't push your graphics out of place, damage them, or make them fly off!
It's also imperative that you use a pH-balanced car shampoo. Anything else may cause the vinyl to fade, or shrink and cause cracks.
Once you're done washing your vehicle, rinse it thoroughly with clean water, and leave it to dry naturally. If needed, you can dry your vehicle with a clean, soft, non-abrasive towel.
